Talk Architecture
The Bauhaus and its influences on current architecture education and practice - Part 3
The Concluding [Part 3] episode focuses on the main discussion of Why the Bauhaus is still important to be a precedent and model for architecture education and the learning of the architecture graduate.
The idea of functionalism is not separated from form. What is separated is how architecture needs to be the “mother” of the creative and design process in the design studios and other influences from planning, surveying and estate management has messed up the architecture design curriculum. Having the soul taken out, architecture is devoid of its purpose in society, so we need to have architecture doing what is needed to be done for society. We start with conversations and dialogues on how the design curriculum needs to refocus back to collaboration, peer influences and mentoring where creativity is the main motive and not other non creative professions agenda.
